The Linn Grove PTO is a volunteer association that works exclusively on behalf of our children through the cooperative efforts of our families and school staff.
The PTO shall do this by:
Fostering closer working relationships between the school, parents, teachers, district and community.
Providing a forum for discussion and communication between parents, administrators, teachers, district and the community.
Enhancing the educational facilities and opportunities for the students of Linn Grove Elementary.
At Linn Grove Elementary, every parent and guardian is automatically a member of the PTO. There is no fee to belong and no paperwork to fill out.
We encourage all parents to attend the General Membership PTO meetings, held on the first Tuesday every month during the school year, at 6:00pm in the school media center or another announced location. At these meetings, we review upcoming events and ongoing projects as well as hear a regular update from our principal.
Our PTO provides funds each year to help our teachers purchase classroom supplies and enrichment materials to enhance learning.
The Linn Grove PTO is proud to have funded several large projects in recent years including a new track, headphones for all students, the climbing wall in the gym, risers for the music department, new media center materials and our new outdoor learning area.
One of the most common questions we get, is how can we support the Linn Grove PTO? There are several ways! Here is a quick list:
*Attend our Monthly PTO meetings! These are planned the 1st Tuesday of EVERY month from 6:00-7:00. These meeting are held in the Linn Grove Media Center OR another announced location, and FREE child care is provided.
*Volunteer at a PTO fundraiser or Event! We can not be successful with out your support and dedication. Some events take only a few people to run, while others take many. Whether you are able to donate 30 minutes of your time, or several hours. EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS!
* Participate in our Box Tops 4 Education drives! Clip "Box Tops" from participating companies. Each box top equals 10 CENTS back to our school, and that adds up quickly! You can also earn boxtops for shopping on line, at some of your favorite retailers. Go to www.boxtops4education.com for more info!
*Participate in our Target Take Charge of Education Program-What is this you ask? TCOE is a terrific way to raise funds for our school. It's super-easy, and all you have to do is use your Target Credit Card®, Target Debit Card® or Target® Visa® Credit Card. We will receive a percentage of the amount of each purchase in the form of an annual check from Target through the Take Charge of Education® program.
To designate our school, just visit target.com/tcoe, or call 1-800-316-6142. Grandparents, alumni, neighbors and friends can take part, too!
The school it self gets a check each fall from Target! It is as easy as that!
*Participate in our Campbell Soup Labels program
*Support Linn Grove with Cash 4 Students at Hy-Vee and Hy-Vee Drugstores - Everytime that you shop at a Cedar Rapids or Marion Hy-Vee store you can help Linn Grove earn money! CASH 4 STUDENTS is a charitable program that gives $1 to participating schools for each $200 of qualifying Hy-Vee cash register receipts. At the end of each month, simply return your envelopes to Linn Grove and continue to collect repits. Qualifying Hy-Vee recipts must be dated between May 1, 2013 and April 30, 2014. Three randomly drawn schools will receive a $500 bonus at the end of the school year program! Start saving those recipts now!
